Chicago BRT Suitability Analysis

This was the final project for the advanced GIS course in the MUPP program. My project partner and I conducted a raster analysis of the top 10 highest ridership bus lines in Chicago and used a number of criteria to determine the most suitable routes to implement bus rapid transit. This project pushed us to design our own workflow and use GIS in ways we hadn’t yet been taught to answer our own research question. We used an equity lens in our discussion to highlight that quantitative analysis should always be accompanied by some form of qualitative understanding, especially in transit.
